Ep 84 – `Aliens/Chord Progressions’ FEAT: White Reaper, Mink’s Miracle Medicine, Suicide Generation, BROTHRS, Goldenhorseshoe

Best of the underground, week of Dec 17, 2019! Aliens we have spotted. All the different ways we hate Jake Gyllenhaal. Holiday coping strategies. PLUS great music. (All podcasts and reviews are on our website, and you can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.) Artists! We like you, good work. Stay strong through the holidays 💪

Podcast 35: Walt Whitman

,

John gets stuck in a dress. Profanity is newly-offensive. Dead Singers fucking speak to us: specifically, Simon LeBon -who is still living- gives John permission to be a sexy poster boy. Also, a special guest appearance by sexy dead poet Walt Whitman himself. And our music is excellent as always:

Thank you to Foot Gun for providing our theme song. (Hey- also!!!! Please take a second to like Holy Crap Records on Facebook and friend us or whatever on Twitter.)

Song We Like: Losing Things by BROTHRS

,

We don’t merely like this song, we LOVE it. Two charming brothRs from the sticks of Western North Carolina are out-popping and out-souling some of the greats here, and they sound like they’re not even trying. We will enjoy saying we knew you when, and when we do, we’ll also say we told you so. (Featured on our #35 podcast, Walt Whitman)

Episode 12: Near-misses

Episode 12- Near-misses: John reveals how he almost sat naked on a bagpipe-end. BROTHRS Lo and Rev reveal how they almost became country-rap poster-boys. Also some discussion of Monica Lewinski, neck tattoos, and an embarrassing song about the IRS. We also have excellent music:

Thank you to our sponsor Rod Kight Law. Thank you to Foot Gun for providing our theme song, thank you to Rev Wray and Lo Wray of BROTHRS for the excellent interview, and thank you to The Asheville Rock Collective, for existing.

Podcast 7: The New Nick Cave

The sad story of two grown adults taping themselves together onstage. Jimmy McGuirl of Thee Sidewalk Surfers talks about heartbreak, backbreak, and pickin. The Kennedys try and fail to understand what record labels do. We also have excellent music:

Thank you to Foot Gun for providing our theme song, thank you to Jimmy McGuirl for the excellent interview, and thank you to The Asheville Rock Collective, for existing.

Podcast 1: We’re live, baby

In this inaugural episode, John Kennedy is pretty loud, but Cinnamon Kennedy apologizes for sounding like a five year old speaking from across a room. (We’re getting her a new mic next week.) She also apologizes for attempting to sing no fewer than THREE of the songs we review here. Again, this was almost certainly due to the mania of being in front of a mic.

Thank you to our bands. Such amazing music:

Thank you also to our sponsor for this episode, mystery writer AR Potts.
