This week: Why bother being so smart? And what exactly is dad rock? And Cinnamon discovers BANDLAB!!!! (Follow us on Facebook! Instagram! Twitter! And lots of stuff about these and other bands, including John’s extremely interesting weekly interviews, is at www.hlycrp.com.)

Podcast 24 – Waves of Beautiful Gorgeousness

The race to sell out heats up as John thinks about investing in a white leather suit. Sean Bohrman of Burger Records talks about the unexpected virtues of cassette tapes. Cinnamon’s first beat hits the airwaves. And for the last half of the podcast, you will not look up from your shoes. (Hopefully you’re not driving.) We have excellent music:

Thank you to Foot Gun for providing our theme song, thank you to Sean Bohrman of Burger Records for the excellent interview, and thank you to The Asheville Rock Collective, for existing.

Episode 18: Po

John is anxious about doing the Teletubbies wrong. Also, why pirates were the first punk rockers, Jack Kerouac and Neal Cassaday, men in hairspray, the social significance of doing shots, and why girl rockers should wear huge sweatsuits on stage. We also have excellent music:

Thank you to Foot Gun for providing our theme song, and thank you to Kim Frye and Joshua Marc Levy of The Asheville Rock Collective for the excellent interview.

Episode 15: Edna

This week we discuss what ladies like. Also the relationship between yoga and buttholes, men who buy ladies’ nighties at the Kiwanis, and Cinnamon’s new `scenester’ personality. Tristan Colby and Josh Davis of The Styrofoam Turtles reveal how to not miss chords while you jump off a drum kit. We also have excellent music:

Thank you to our sponsors, The Worley Firley Farm. Thank you to Foot Gun for providing our theme song, thank you to Tristan Colby and Josh Davis of The Styrofoam Turtles for the excellent interview, and thank you to The Asheville Rock Collective, for existing.

Podcast 1: We’re live, baby

In this inaugural episode, John Kennedy is pretty loud, but Cinnamon Kennedy apologizes for sounding like a five year old speaking from across a room. (We’re getting her a new mic next week.) She also apologizes for attempting to sing no fewer than THREE of the songs we review here. Again, this was almost certainly due to the mania of being in front of a mic.

Thank you to our bands. Such amazing music:

Thank you also to our sponsor for this episode, mystery writer AR Potts.
